Mobile Massage Therapist in Kitsap, Washington
Feel free to text or email questions you don't see here.
I will travel to your home or office anywhere in Kitsap County, from Kingston to Port Orchard.
For safety reasons, I do not travel to hotels and do not set my table up in bedrooms.
Myofascial release is slow, oil-free massage.
The goal is to gently stretch and twist the collagen that surrounds your muscles.
One client described the feeling as a "teeny-tiny foam roller".
It should feel like letting go and it should never be painful.
Most deep tissue massage is performed by applying as much pressure as possible to a knot to "break it apart". This approach is too aggressive, in my opinion.
Instead of applying max pressure to a knot I apply just enough to create tension in the muscle and/or slow your breathing.
Then, I ease off the pressure but keep my hand in place. This easing off is when the muscle usually relaxes.
Few of my client reports intense soreness in the days after their massage.
The Trigger-Point Therapy Manual, 3rd Ed. recommends the Pressure-Release approach.
Deep tissue massage does not need to hurt.
"Good" pain is great but if you can't breathe though it then it's way too much.
Pain is a tool that tells us where to work, but it's just one tool in a whole set.
I do not operate on a "no-pain, no-gain" philosophy.
My name is Pista Szabo. I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska.
I like bicycles, reading, and slow cooked bbq.
I had the privilige work with feminist-based researchers on Initmate Partner Violence at Portland State University.
Anchorage, Alaska can be a violent place and I grew up seeing enough. I have always wanted to be a person who uses their hands to help people instead of hurting them.
In most US culture, touch is often either violent or sexual and I am proud to have spent the last 20 years offering an alternative in compassionate care.
My work is entirely focused on chronic pain.
I offer only the services listed on this website.
I do not offer full-body, Swedish, or relaxation massage.
